Asiad 2018: Vinesh Phogat wins historic wrestling gold

Vinesh Phogat created history today by becoming the first Indian female wrestler to win a gold medal at the Asian Games. Vinesh achieved the glorious feat beating Japan’s Yuki Irie 6-2 in 50kg freestyle category of the ongoing 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Apart from the gold, India bagged two silver on the second day to increase their total number of medals to five, which include another silver and one bronze. Both the silver medals came in shooting events with Deepak Kumar achieving it in men’s 10m air rifle  and 19-year old Lakshay Sheoran getting the same in men`s trap.
